WIND AND WATER

 

Laughter and tears simulate the heart,

Provoke turbulence, pacify calm in fact,

Rebuttal ignominy and aloofness stay,

Flows the primal love, display the way, (1)

 

Gold and property absent the cottage,

Granary cornfields serene a hermitage,

Rain pours, settles dust, freshness, joy,

Cattle graze, grassland cow herd boy, (2)

 

Playing the flute, the wind carries far off,

Swans in the lotus pond, children scoff,

Dusk and dust storm, the cow herd returns,

Bell in the neck rings nostalgic mourn, (3)

 

Golden crop wind plays waves attract,

Cow feed, straw, thatched roof, in fact,

Soil and water, mud wall, sweet home,

The cool shade, no fan, comfort warm, (4)

 

Dust storm and torrential rain, visible,

Wet thatched roof and water trickle,

The aroma, wet air shivers limbs, throb,

Another world, a paradigm, sadly rub, (5)

 

Diametrically opposite busy city life,

Stay in the concrete world full of strife,

Wind blows, blow up tower boards,

Rain inundates streets, homes accord, (6)

 

Azure sky turns gray clouds and pours,

Sand bed of the river in spate cover,

Leaves murmur and wind play a song,

White music and a drizzle stay long, (7)

 

Human breath and thirst, a metaphor,

Wind and water sustain lives, enamor,

Gift of nature and God, impermanent,

Obvious is extinction, feel prominent. (viii)
