HISTORY IS THE WITNESS
Invaders
from West Asia, defeated,
Kingdoms
bite the dust, repeated,
Manslaughter,
loot, cities burning,
A
ghastly picture lasted, churning, (1)
Devastation
ruled the day and grew,
Monarchy
oppressively, cruelly views,
Years
passed, a civilization was lost,
Demolished
temple and lives cost, (2)
Colonialists
visited, uprooted kings,
The
monarch and a hundred sing,
Paid
dues or the people at mercy,
They
treat as slaves, lack courtesy, (3)
Not
allowed to make salt, weave,
Wonderful
silk cloth banned live,
Ancient
temples, ritual practices,
Survived
harsh rules, time notices, (4)
Invaders
under the graves, a past,
Colonies
collapsed, rulers left first,
The
country gained independence,
Freedom
equality visible credence, (5)
Secular,
socialist republic, perfect,
The
constitution, parliament wait,
Elected
members rule the nation,
Minority
opposition fights elections, (6)
Laws of
the land, the constitution,
Citizen,
the eligible voter, caution,
Serve
or bite the dust, or election,
Seven
decades after centuries on, (7)
Peace,
progress, fraternity, anoint,
Love
kindness sacrifice yet cement,
History
is the witness, lives develop,
Survives
the future dream scopes. (viii)
