RISE O REMANANT
Bewitched bewildered steals
the time,
Lotus blooms in sunlight, stay sunshine,
Fails to touch its love is distant, eternal,
Lily waits for the moonlit night ethereal, (1)
Perpetual to meet never happens sadly,
Wildflowers blossom, fragrance widely,
Fall to the ground, melt the scent soon,
Murmurs dry leaf on the ground prone, (2)
Soil covers broken twigs, laments a tree,
Flood waters sweep a trunk, floats free,
Leafless bare branches silhouette dark,
A broken boat once sailed left an earmark, (3)
Intense friendship, love, closeness, stay,
Human nature bonhomie duly display,
Today, the bitterest enemy, well, fight,
Empathy, compassion gone, a sad sight, (4)
Parents, siblings, part of life, separated,
Who stole the bond prefers, liberated,
A sweet home destroyed, creepers rule,
Collapsed all brick walls stay tearful, (5)
Temple bells chime, prayer oil lit lamp,
Broken temple strewn stones swamp,
Lost the serenity verdant valley voice,
Modernity deforested human rejoice, (6)
Countless species of living beings allure,
Vanished altogether, beauty no more,
Bare hills, dry river beds narrate pasts,
Shadow of the remnants horror casts, (7)
It is not the end of the world, oblivion.
Rise, O remnant, the time-proven scion,
Changed new life sprouts leaves, well,
Tree of life blossoms, friendships swell. (viii)
