THE WINDOW OF AN EYE
Centuries of Mughal rule
torture,
Colonial past gruesome
overtures,
Unblemished million-year
culture,
Buried and fled in time the
vulture, (1)
The land with gold, diamond
jewels,
Peace and prosperity memory
fuel,
Millennia-old loot, arson,
brutal life,
The night ends, darkness a
strife, (2)
Down the Union Jack lives
muster,
Raised the tricolor valiantly
flutter,
Still, stay the nightmarish
partition,
Million lives left native place
stern, (3)
Turmoil, travesty of poverty
grips,
Illiteracy draught famine lives
sip,
Lacked education communication,
Seven decades after life in
motion, (4)
Highways, metro, and
metropolis,
Freedom, liberty, and the
Constitution,
Democracy marvels with all
elections,
Astonishing a billion lives
cherish, (5)
Mighty economy, security is
visible,
Sovereign country, independent,
A rosy future, young lives
treble,
Nation builder leaves a
precedent, (6)
The fag end of life with
emotion,
Disbelieve a land
transformation,
A paradise bountiful crop
affords,
Milk flood, females' lives
accord, (7)
May the country be safe and
secure,
From the window of an eye tear,
Floating cinematic reels
inspire,
Plural society culture lives,
shares. (viii)
