THE LINGERING SHADOWS

How many dreams were touched?
In silence and darkness, searched,
Shores of the mind fade, magical,
Anchor the lovelorn heart, factual (1)

Aspiration desperation tirade well,
Hope and hopelessness sadly dwell,
Life runs in the quicksand, disappears,
Tears from the sky dewdrops wear, (2)

Cacti in the arid desert bloom well,
Persistent life exists, curiously dwells
Morning sunrise, the shadow lingers,
Evening sunset long shadow singer, (3)

A shadow of the floating cloud moves,
Impermanent and imprints it proves,
Silhouettes of the three birds indicate,
Memory the background intoxicates, (4)

Ravages of bitter fight scar still stay,
Cemetery annual tribute life display,
Unforgettable sacrifices, footprints,
Future generations learn lesson hints, (5)

A past holocaust devastation losses,
Catastrophic climate change curses,
Hunts the nightmare, lively remorse,
Miraculous survival story, of course, (6)

Deserted her love unnoticed quickly,
No reason or explanation, feel sickly,
He had gone for years, didn't return,
Her love knocks unknowingly, often, (7)

Thought all pictures of long shadow,
In the darkness, her eyes express all,
The lingering shadows, like a meadow,
Memories never die, alive, she recalls, (viii)
