HER PROFILE LINGERS
Years ago, I saw her and her
personality,
What attracted me was great modesty,
Honesty, humility, a soothing voice,
She led her honorable life choice (1)
Attractive, simple attire, gentle life,
Scarcely noticed, she faced a strife,
At a troubled time came a helping hand,
Looked ahead, survived again, stand (2)
Friends, family, and neighbors loved,
Unspoken pain and sorrows dissolved,
Long black hair, skirt, blouse, wear,
Tall and slim, her smile and figure (3)
Feminine charm to wedlock is linked,
Left the village for the city, her life blinked,
For a village girl, a paradigm change,
The in-law house is different, exchange, (4)
Lost all smiles, heard short answers,
Missing bonhomie search a cursor,
Fails to satisfy her love and family,
Unsatisfied men and women are senile (5)
Visit the weakness in domestic work daily,
Occasional sickness, bedridden life,
Late-night husband arrives like a silly,
Less share on conditions and strife, (6)
Without a baby, miseries increase,
A day her fate broke loose to cease,
She left her parents-in-law's house soon,
An uncertain future, a life in gloom, (7)
Dear husband, never return to seek,
A village life less enamored of pale cheeks,
Wrote a letter tear-smear to her love,
Her profile lingers in ink yet dissolves. (viii)
