THE RIVER AND LIFE

 

The ocean extends, horizon to horizon,

Bottomless depth, inhabit life motion,

Oyster rejects salt, drinks rainwater

Humans depend upon natural water (1)

 

The source of human life sustained well,

Fertile land, bumper harvest, and hail,

Food, water, cloth, and shelter to hire,

The civilization near the river inspires (2)

 

Centuries after customs, traditions stay,

Festivals and celebration love display,

Livelihood travel by boat carries goods,

Fishery desirable dishes enrich foods, (3)

 

Path of life, a sojourn in the river show,

Discovers the ocean, the path known,

Attracts waterfalls, rivulets join well,

Human life eventful thoughts dwell, (4)

 

The crystal clear water or white surf,

The colored pebbles paradise dwarf,

Life, picturesque personifies, dominates,

Like a river influence satisfies intimate, (5)

 

The verdant verdure mountain peak,

A river flows through a gorge, a creek

Infinite peace and happiness bewitch,

City lives, milling crowd noises switch, (6)

 

The flood and flurry of human anger,

Devastating lives witness the sufferer,

Critical factor for nourishing life well,

Dishearten a dry bed of a river quell, (7)

 

Arrival of rain, hope, revive, captivate,

The river and life coexist, confluence,

Timeless intimacy entwine influence,

Life resurrects, recognize her, intimate. (viii)
