TIMELESS TRADITIONS

Ephemeral life beliefs thrive, defy,

Customs and many practices diversify,

Stay human faith for a millennium,

Unfold the ageless story, die minimum, (1)

 

Kings and queens, invaders, tragedy,

The saint and monks pray, melody,

Cremation and oblations to spirits,

Staircases of the ghat, picture lists, (2)

 

Orange glow, the sunset, is ecstatic,

Flock of birds, boatmen, life hypnotic,

Ringing of bells from a temple hymn,

Different realm magnetic, or rhythm, (3)

 

Speechless, observe the sight sways,

The Ganges flows slowly; it displays,

Flows emotion, healing the malady,

Moisten and gentle breeze, parody, (4)

 

Silent and sober moment captivates,

The legends survived well, intimate,

Crowded boats, the riverbank, dwell.

Ethereal feelings, imaginary prevails, (5)

 

Creeping thoughts civilization exists,

Primordial views worship evil resists,

Evil, self-doubt, suspicion overpower,

Pretentious mind illusory and cower, (6)

 

The dogma and discrimination fight,

The bitter quarrel, society, raises a fright,

The Ganges has seen tumults clean,

Cleanse the ambiguity or peace win, (7)

 

The river of perpetual love bliss flows,

An enlightened heart perceives, knows,

Timeless traditions, faith, and beliefs,

A dip in the cold water is quite a relief. (viii)
